Our Story
Get to Know Us
We are strategically located & set up to house volunteers & interns ; who are here to focus their energy and to make a difference.
Yoga Shala has its own service projects and we are invested in our local communities & township; whereby we aim to contribute & uplift through our programs.
We have hosted 1000's of volunteers from around the world over the years.
Yoga Shala provides a homely space and backpacker style accommodation. We are focused on being an example around running a sustainable establishment. We expect all our guests to assist in conserving water ; and energy ; no longer just a fantasy but increasingly good practice in the world today. South Africa has both water and energy shortages and so it is imperative during your stay that you help us to conserve. The cost of energy is higher than food.
We have a compost bin and all our kitchen waste goes into our garden. So short showers and conscious energy users are the norm.
Yoga Shala is situated in a bio diverse eco system; we have baboons ; caracals; genets; eagles ; tortoises to mention a few animals that visit. Baboons are regular visitors and our policy is dogs inside and strictly no feeding the baboons.
We are situated on the Roodeberg Mountain range ; which forms part of the Table Mountain range. We are at the Southern most tip of Africa ; between the Indian and Atlantic oceans.
There is so much to do & see in Cape Town ; from hiking ; to swimming in our Tidal pools; to the night life and City markets. Please check in with Sidney or Candi ; on interesting things to do in the City.
We hope that you enjoy your stay at Yoga Shala !
